Who we are?

We are a specialist consultancy dedicated to helping those with blasting, vibration and air-overpressure problems.

Our work is built around the key values of design, performance and compliance.

What we do?

We aim to create clear solutions for you, where professionalism and ethics are of paramount importance.

We offer experienced industry based blasting expertise that has also worked at the forefront of blasting research and developed state-of-the-art technology to ensure that the very best techniques and knowledge can be applied to your needs.

Our solutions can range from simply meeting with residents and education on the perception of blast vibrations to more complex data analytics using our analysis software.

We have successfully collaborated with those in the quarrying and mining industry and effectively applied ourselves to demolition, tunnelling and civil engineering.

Our Story

We started our journey in the 1980's where the Blasting and Environmental Research Group (BERG) based in the Department of Mining Engineering at the University of Leeds, UK began collaborating with GWP Consultants LLP based in Charlbury, Oxfordshire. The two organisations were brought together by their passion in the area of blasting research that can be applied to 'real world' problems.

In the mid 2000's, Bill Birch as the director of BERG saw that many of the blasting problems being presented could be solved through innovative solutions. He then contacted Ruth Allington and Alan Cobb at GWP Consultants to formalise their working relationship by creating a successful business venture.

And in March 2007, Blast Log Limited was established and has delivered solutions to the quarrying and mining industry ever since.

As we have an academic background, we have continued to carry out and present our research work at the major international symposiums including International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE), European Federation of Explosives Engineers (EFEE) and Fragblast.
